Early AccessThis guide is based on the Early Access version of Deep Rock Galactic: Rogue Core and will be updated as the game changes.
Quick Answer
Rogue Core has five Reclaimers in Early Access: Guardian, Spotter, Falconer, Slicer, and Retcon. Guardian is the safest all-round pick and the best beginner class. Slicer and Retcon are the strongest solo picks. Falconer is the co-op anchor. Spotter anchors crit builds.
The Five Reclaimers
Guardian
Walking shield. Area denial and close protection — pushes clusters with the Repulsion Field, restores team armor, and stuns with the Concussive Barrage. Build anchor: control and survival.
Slicer
Melee specialist. The Plasma Blade slice deals 560 damage and glassifies nearby terrain. Highest single-strike damage in the EA roster. Build anchor: melee triggers.
Falconer
Aerial support. The Shock Drone fires 4 salvos of 35 direct + 25 AoE damage with electrocution, and can revive teammates from range. Build anchor: electric and status.
Spotter
Marksman support. Crit Dart marks enemies for 5s at +100% crit chance or paints a 10s ground field. Sees enemies through walls and deploys ammo. Build anchor: crit.
Retcon
Time-warping hologram. Rewind Time marks a point and returns you to it after a 20-second window, restoring ammo and health. Highest skill ceiling in the EA roster. Build anchor: risk-window plays.
Class Tier List
Early Access tier list based on the current public class kits, community testing, and the framework below. Expect revisions as balance patches land.
| Class | Tier | Best For | Difficulty | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Guardian | S | Beginners, Co-op | Low | Repulsion Field (4s fear zone, 2× 20s cd) + Concussive Barrage (12 munitions, 6s stun). Restores team armor. |
| Slicer | S | Solo | Medium | Plasma Blade horizontal Slice deals 560 damage and glassifies terrain within 3m. Highest single-strike in the kit. |
| Falconer | A | Co-op | Medium | Shock Drone (5 charges, 10s replenish): 4 salvos of 35 direct + 25 AoE with electrocution. Ranged revive support. |
| Spotter | A | Crit builds, Co-op | Medium | Crit Dart (3 charges, 18s cd): direct mark 5s at +100% crit, ground field 10s. Wallhack + drop-on ammo. |
| Retcon | A | Solo, Risk-window builds | High | Rewind Time: mark a point, return after 20s with health and ammo restored. Highest skill ceiling in the EA roster. |
Best Class for Beginners — Guardian
Guardian is the first-pick recommendation. The Repulsion Field applies a 4-second fear zone that reorients enemies and exposes their backs while restoring team armor. The Concussive Barrage fires 12 munitions, each applying a 6-second stun. Both abilities forgive positioning mistakes — exactly what you need while learning floor layouts and Risk Vectors. See the Beginner Guide for the full first-run framework.
Best Class for Solo — Slicer or Retcon
Slicer is the brute force solo pick. The Plasma Blade slice deals 560 damage per swing — the highest single-strike number in the current class set — and glassifies terrain within 3 meters, opening shortcuts and clearing chokepoints in one swing.
Retcon is the options solo pick. Rewind Time lets you mark a position, push aggressive lines, then teleport back after a 20-second window with any spent health and ammo restored. Highest ceiling in the roster, but you have to plan the rewind in advance.
Best Class for Co-op — Falconer
Falconer is built for four-player runs. The Shock Drone holds 5 charges with a 10-second replenish, fires 4 salvos of 35 direct damage + 25 AoE per hit, and electrocutes targets — strong uncoordinated value because it does not need precise aim from someone still learning floor layouts. The ranged revive seals the pick: you can save a downed teammate without crossing the room.
Build Anchors by Class
- Guardian — control and survival. Pair with armor-restore and stun-duration Bio-Boosters.
- Spotter — crit. Stack crit-chance and crit-damage Enhancements; Crit Dart already hands you +100% crit chance on marked targets.
- Falconer — electric and status. Look for Bio-Boosters that extend electrocution or chain damage between targets.
- Slicer — melee triggers. Effects that fire on melee hit or terrain destruction compound with Slice and the glassify radius.
- Retcon — risk-window. Take aggressive Bio-Boosters with downsides; Rewind Time erases the downside if you survive the window.
